宋代是一個創新和科學進步的時代,對自然的重視和對天地的敬畏在宋代陶瓷的各種紋飾中顯而易見,如常見的纏枝花卉紋飾。宋代的天目茶碗通常被認為整體視覺感似夜空或宇宙。

兔毫和油滴常常與夜空中的星星和星系聯繫在一起。灰被天目是日本茶道經過 5 個世紀的發展而形成的一種成熟的審美品種。德川家康的收藏中有一個類似的例子,現藏於德川博物館。

1948 年,倫敦東方陶瓷協會的著名成員肯禮夫勳爵以 12.10 英鎊的價格向著名的經銷商 Bluett and Sons 購買了這只茶碗。之後,這件作品參加了 1954 年在威尼斯舉辦的一次重要展覽–威尼斯藝術展(Mostra de Arte Cinese),並於 1960 年返回英國,參加東方陶瓷協會的展覽。

Of metallic brown color glaze, the inside of the bowl is covered with an area of round dark glaze, resembling the black hole in space.

Song dynasty is a period of innovation and science advancement, the emphasis on nature and respect for the heaven and earth is evident in the various motifs used in Song ceramics. Apart from floral decoration, Tenmoku, tea bowls of the Song Dynasty is often associated with the night sky or the universe.

Hare’s fur and Yuteki (oil spot) is often linked with the night sky with all the stars and galaxies. Haikatsuki, is a more sophisticated aesthetic developed over 5 centuries of Japanese Tea Ceremony. One similar example can be found in the Tokugawa Ieyasu collection, now is the Tokugawa museum.

This bowl was purchased by Lord Cunliffe, a prominent figure of Oriental Ceramics Society, London in 1948 for £12.10, offered by the famous dealer Bluett and Sons. It then goes on to an important exhibition in Venice, the Mostra de Arte Cinese, Venice 1954 before it travels back to UK for Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition in 1960.
